Benefices

The Dean and Canons of Windsor are patrons or, as there are many parishes which have amalgamated with others nearby, joint patrons of 50 parishes or benefices around England stretching from Tintagel in Cornwall to Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. As patrons, the Dean & Canons have responsibility for appointing new incumbents; though today this is mostly done working with the diocese and parish rather than, as was the case in past times, in isolation. The patronage of individual parishes came to the Dean & Canons of Windsor either by way of a gift or bequest from as long ago as the fourteenth century to some from more recent years.
