educationIn 1570, during the middle of Elizabeth I's reign, the College, being found to somewhat lax in educational matters, received a Visitation from the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal. He ordered that a lecture in Divinity should be established and be given three days a week in perpetuity. While with the passage of time the injunction has fallen into disuse, the impetus it gave was sufficient to encourage the educational activities of the College and to ensure that these remain a central part of the life of St George's.

Visitors to the Archives' pages of this site will be able to see for themselves something of the College's resources in the area of scholarship and academic research. And of course St George's Chapel and the precincts are also themselves precious legacy being a living testament to the industry, skill and ingenuity of our forbears.

educationIn addition to the Archives, the College makes major investment in the field of education both through St George's House and St George's School.

Windsor Castle itself also has an excellent Education Centre for young people with programmes linked to the requirements of the National Curriculum. See 'Children love visiting St George's Chapel' to link to the Castle Education Centre.
