Colonel David Axson, Hon Secretary of the FriendsPeople often think that the Chapel is the property of, and therefore financially supported by, the State, the Church or even the Royal Family. In fact it belongs to The College of St. George, a self-governing community of priests and laymen, which has been self-supporting since its foundation in 1348. Although in former times it owned land and property, only a small part of its income is now derived from investments and the remainder comes from visitors' admission charges. While this is sufficient for the costly routine maintenance of a building over 500 years old, it cannot cover major items of capital expenditure without additional financial support - which is what The Friends can provide with your help.

Benefits of Membership include:

  • a Certificate of Membership and Membership Badge
  • your name in the Book of Honour displayed in the Chapel
  • entry to the precincts of Windsor Castle and St George's Chapel on production of your membership badge
  • an informative Annual Report
  • advance notice of St George's Chapel annual concert programme
  • the Annual Outing to a cathedral or stately home
  • attendance at The Friends' Annual Meeting and Festival
  • The College of St George Christmas card and specially commissioned quality items
  • the opportunity to attend Garter Day in June
