The House was founded in 1966 by the Duke of Edinburgh and the then Dean of Windsor, Robin Woods. Since that time it has hosted significant consultations on a wide range of topics. It has made a genuine contribution to the life of the nation and also to the religious community of which it is a part.
Then, as now, the House has two core objectives:
To organise and host consultations on matters of national and international concern
To run conferences for clergy of all denominations who, having had some ministerial experience, come to the House to reflect theologically on the Church and the world
