Clergy Consultations

St George's House

Clergy Consultations

Since its foundation the House has run a variety of Clergy Consultations. Now, attracting Clergy from different denominations and ministerial experience, the House runs three kinds of Consultation.

The Core Clergy Consultation: Lasting ten days this Consultation is aimed at Clergy with at least five years ministerial experience. The purpose is to consider how best to speak about God in the face of the issues facing the contemporary world. The next Core Clergy Consultation will be held on 4-14 October 2010 and will be led by the Revd Canon Dr Hueston Finlay.

An Annual Special Theme Consultation: Taking a particular theme these Consultations allow Clergy the opportunity to spend the inside of a week sharing their experience and knowledge, and debating the issue concerned. The most recent of these Consultations has been on The Art of Preaching.

Short Clergy Consultations: These twenty-four or forty-eight hour Consultations are particularly suitable for single issue debates. They more closely resemble the Consultations that the House holds on social and ethical issues. Although these Consultations are on themes of interest to the Clergy, they also attract a small number of the Laity.

Details of all Clergy Consultations are posted on our website.

The Clergy Consultation Directing Staff are The Right Reverend David Conner, Canon Dr Hueston Finlay, Canon John White, and Canon Dr James Woodward.
