Consultations

View from the House

About 60 consultations take place at St George’s House each year. We welcome enquiries from organisations or groups who wish to use the House for such events.

What we offer

St George’s House provides a secluded, comfortable and relaxed environment where people can think and speak freely about key issues of today. Confidentiality is assured by the St George's House Consultation Protocol and the Conventions of the House.

Who can take part?

Consultations draw together people of influence and experience, and future leaders, from all sectors of society, who might not otherwise meet. Participants are diverse in age, background, race, religion and occupation. All meet on the basis of equality. Organisers take advice from many sources about whom to invite, in order to ensure a balance of views.

A chance to take risks

We want people to think the unthinkable. We look to participants to develop new concepts and solutions, and to have the courage to admit that cherished opinions might be wrong. Anyone who comes to St George’s House should be prepared to change their mind, secure in the knowledge that they will not lose face by doing so.

What happens afterwards?

If appropriate, reports can be prepared summarising conclusions while respecting confidentiality, and these can be published electronically or in print. If further consultations on the same or related themes seem desirable, they can be arranged.
