As
well as being a magnificent Church building for visitors to see as they
tour the Castle, St George's Chapel is primarily the spiritual home
of a living and working community - the College of St George.
Established in 1348, it was created as the guardian of the religious
foundation of the Order of the Garter and its ideals. The College maintains
the daily Services in the Chapel, cares for the fabric of the buildings,
maintains the Archives and Libraries, supports St George's House as
its centre for consultations and study, supports St George's School
and sustains links with the 52 Parishes from the south and west of the
Country with which the College has historic connections.
 - With such diverse responsibilities, the St George's of today finds
itself a thriving and busy community. It is the worship offered in the
Chapel which brings the College's many activities together under God,
and which also acts as a touchstone for their quality. In the pages
which follow, you will see something of the Music which takes place
in the Chapel, and also some of the People who together make up the
College.
