an archaeological dig August Bank Holiday weekend...
Watch an archaeological dig in progress as the experts from the Channel
4 programme "Time Team" excavate an area next to St George's Chapel over
the August Bank Holiday weekend. Witness the uncovering of what might
be the foundations of Henry II's Great Hall. Viewing of the dig and the
archaeologists at work will be possible when the Chapel is open to the
public (but not during service times) as the route around the Chapel will
be especially extended for three days. Normal admission charge to the
Castle apply; entry to the Castle is via the Visitor Admission Centre.
Opening hours for St George's Chapel over this particular weekend are:
Saturday 26th August: 10am - 4.15pm
Sunday 27th August: 2pm - 4pm
Monday 28th August: 10am - 4.15pm

10.00 TO 16.15 (last admission 16.00)
Visitors are welcome to attend Evensong at 5.15 pm each day.
SUNDAYS
While the Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays, they are welcome to
attend services as follows:
- 08.30 Holy Communion (Traditional language, no music, 30 minutes)
- 10.45 Mattins and Sermon (With choir, 60 minutes)
- 11.45 Sung Eucharist (With choir, 60 minutes)
- 17.15 Choral Evensong (Book of Common Prayer order, with choir)
The
Chapel is fitted with Wheelchair access and ramps, and a Loop system for
hard of hearing has been installed.

Friends of St George's and the Descendants of Knights of the Garter admitted
free to Castle on presentation of membership badges.
