Worship
is the offering of all we do and all we are to God. Down the past centuries
countless men and women have discovered in worship meaning and direction
for living of their lives. This remains true for millions of people
today.
- The heart of the College of St George is the worship of Almighty God.
The College’s ancient statutes require that it should ‘wait eternally
upon the Lord’. That all its life should be worship is made clear through
the services offered every day in the Chapel - the celebration of Holy
Communion, and the daily services of Mattins and Evensong (Morning and
Evening Prayer). The worship in St George’s Chapel forms the spiritual
centre of the Castle and its community.
- We welcome visitors to these services and hope they may join us. Coming
to Evensong at 5.15 pm (Sung every day except Wednesdays) can make the
most perfect conclusion to a visit to the Castle.
- Attending Evensong is also a way for visitors to take part in the
daily life of the Castle. The service itself lasts approximately 45
minutes and is beautifully sung by the Chapel Choir, one of the leading
Church Choirs in the country.
