FRIENDS EVENTS IN 2018

Please note: As St George’s Chapel is part of Windsor Castle, please be aware that events may be subject to change due to Royal Events and external events, security and also may be affected by weather conditions. These are beyond our control.
Tickets are normally issued one month in advance.
Thursday, 3 May 2018 – Visit to Middle Temple and Temple Church, London. This event is open to Members and their named guests. We shall assemble at 11am at the Middle Temple Hall. There will be coffee followed by a tour, then lunch and a visit to the garden. After lunch we shall move to the Temple Church, which serves the inns of Inner and Middle Temple and was built by the Knights Templar in the late 12th Century.
The cost will be £55 per person, including lunch. Please book your place by 19th April.
Monday, 18 June 2018 – Garter Day. Please note that security on this day is extremely high and the Castle is closed to the public all day. Entry is by special ticket only. Demand for tickets is always high so please book early. The Friends are allocated a limited number of tickets for:
Seats in St George’s Chapel (Members only). Tickets will be personally named and thus non-transferrable. There is no charge for these tickets but you will need to apply.
Seats on the Friends’ Stand (Member and up to three guests). For a donation of £70 per person, to cover costs. Seats are personally allocated and numbered.
Standing on the Chapel Grass area (Members only). There is no charge for these tickets but you will need to apply.
Friends’ Garter Lunch or Tea. This year we can offer the option of a sandwich Lunch, from 12.15pm or Tea, served from 3.45pm in the 14th Century Vicars’ Hall. Please apply for either the Lunch or the Tea (Members and guests). Cost £25 per person for either Lunch or Tea.
Due to high demand for Garter Tickets, please apply by 30th April 2018 (tickets will be distributed, by ballot, in May)
Wednesday, 27 June 2018 – Royal British Legion Concert in St George’s Chapel. The Central Band of the Royal British Legion will perform at St George’s Chapel to mark the centenary of the First World War. The Friends will hold a special Member’s only, pre-concert drinks Reception with seats in the central Nave for the concert at 6pm in Canon Poll’s Office, 4 The Cloisters.
Cost of the tickets, plus Reception, will be £70 per person. Please apply and pay by 13th June.
Saturday, 7 July 2018 – Friends Garden Party. This event is open to Members and their named guests.
Morning talk and coffee – Starting at 10.30am in St George’s School we will have coffee on arrival, followed by a talk on the advances in the Medical Treatment of Casualties in the time of Armed Conflict. The cost will be £10 per person.
Garden Party and Tea – The Friends will again hold their Garden Party at the Chapter Garden, Windsor at 2.30pm. Entry is from the Datchet Road, opposite the Windsor & Eton Riverside Station. Tea will be served in the Marquee and afterwards there will be a Friends’ Evensong in the Chapel at 5.15pm.
The cost for this afternoon will be £20 per person. Please book your tickets before 23rd June.
Saturday 1 September 2018 – Trip National Memorial Arboretum. This event is open to Members and their named guests. The Friends of St George’s will journey to the NMA by coach from Windsor. The coach will leave Windsor Castle at 8.15am and return that evening around 6.30pm. The trip will include a briefing on arrival followed by a short service in the Chapel and then coffee. A tour of the grounds by Land Train will be followed by a light lunch and time to individually see more of this spectacular and very poingant place, 100 years after the end of the Great War.
The cost will be £55 per person. Please book your place by 18th August.
Saturday, 6 October 2018 – Dinner in the Vicars’ Hall. The Friends celebrate with a black-tie dinner in the 14th Century Vicars’ Hall including pre-dinner drinks in the Dean’s Cloister at 7.15 pm for the 7.45 pm dinner. The cost will be £60 per person and members may bring one guest.
We also offer an optional tour of St George’s Chapel at 6pm after Evensong (and before the drinks) for a donation of £20 per person.
Overnight accommodation, in en-suite single or twin-bedded rooms with breakfast on Sunday 7 October included, is available in St George’s House at £100 per person. (Overnight guests will be asked for additional information due to security procedures)

Wednesday, 10 October 2018 – Bond Memorial Lecture. Professor Andrew Kirkman, Birmingham University and Assistant Professor Philip Weller, Nottingham University will speak on ‘The Singing Men of St George’s Chapel in the later Middle Ages’.
Admission: Free by named ticket only. The names of all those requiring tickets must be supplied by 26 September 2018 for security. Please bring photo ID with you.

Thursday, 22 November 2018 – St George’s Chapel Tour following Evensong. This event is open to Members and their named guests. Attend Evensong at 5.15pm in St George’s Chapel, followed by a special tour of the Chapel. There will then be an opportunity to gather and enjoy a glass of mulled wine in the Dean’s Cloister after the Tour.
Tickets will be £20 per person. To join us at this event, please apply by 8th November.
