In line with the recommendations of Chapter, the Friends of St George’s have taken the decision to cancel the Friends’ Afternoon on 3 May.  We will shortly be contacting those members of the Friends who have already applied for this event regarding a refund.

Sunday 3 May 2020:  Friends Afternoon in St George’s Chapel with Tea and Friends’ Evensong.  EVENT CANCELLED

Monday 15 June 2020: Garter Day. Enjoy a day of pageantry, music and service at Windsor Castle.  Members of the Friends can apply for tickets (in a ballot) for the Chapel, Friends’ Stand and Chapter Grass areas. For the Chapel and Grass tickets, only Members can apply; on the Stand Members are welcome to bring accompanied guests, £60 per seat.  In 2020 we shall serve a Friends’ Tea in the 15th-century Vicars’ Hall at 3.45pm.  Tickets for the Tea are £25 and issued by ballot.

Friday 10 July 2020: The History of Royal Windsor Vineyards. We shall enjoy a talk from Laithwaites Wines on the history of the vineyards in Windsor grown for the Royals over the centuries.  Following the talk we shall have the opportunity of sampling the wine currently grown in the Windsor Vineyard.  Tickets for the Event, including wine-tasting, £30 per person.

Tuesday 8 September 2020 – Tour: The Living History of St George’s. Be transported back in time to hear more about the people who lived and worked at St George’s in the past, and whose roles are still very much a part of the community of St George’s.  Time travellers welcome!  Tickets £30 per person.

Saturday 10 October 2020: Friends’ Dinner in the Vicars’ Hall. This event is open to Members and one guest.  There will be a formal dinner in the Vicars’ Hall commencing at 7.15pm with pre-dinner drinks in the Dean’s Cloister.  Dress is Black Tie.  The cost will be £60 per person, including the pre-dinner drinks.  Limited overnight accommodation, in en-suite single or twin-bedded rooms with breakfast, is available in St George’s House for £100 per person.  For Members who wish to attend Evensong at 5.15pm, this will be followed by a Chapel Tour for a donation of £20 per person.

Wednesday 14 October 2020: The Bond Memorial Lecture “Resilience and Transformation: Community Life at St George’s Chapel, 1460-1520”. The Lecture will be given by Dr Euan Roger from the National Archives.  Admission is free by named ticket only, please bring photo ID with you.  Applications for tickets with list of named guests should be sent to: The Chapter Office, The Cloisters, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berks SL4 1NJ, by 25 September 2020, sending a self-addressed envelope marked ‘Bond Memorial Lecture’, and including the names of all those requiring tickets.

Wednesday 2 December 2020: Tour of St George’s Chapel – The 1920s Restoration.  After evening Prayer at 5.15pm in St George’s Chapel, we shall hear about the 1920s restoration of the Chapel, and examine some of the significant work that was carried out at that time.  the tour will be followed by an opportunity to attend the Chapel Shop Christmas opening (with 25% discount on many purchases) and to enjoy a glass of mulled wine in the Cloisters.  Tickets £20 per person.

Please note: As St George’s Chapel is part of Windsor Castle, please be aware that events may be subject to change due to Royal Events and external events, security and also may be affected by weather conditions.  These are beyond our control.
