Special Projects & Appeals

The Friends and Descendants make an invaluable contribution to the ongoing efforts to conserve and protect this special place of outstanding cultural significance for future generations.

Without their tremendous help over the past years, it would not have been possible for St George’s Chapel and its associated buildings to be conserved, and to the high standards needed to ensure that the work undertaken lasts for centuries.

Since they were established just over 85 years ago, many major works have been funded, wholly or partly, by the Friends. These have ranged from restoration of stained glass windows, woodwork, the organ, and Chantry and Cloister areas, to installation of heating and fire alarm systems and of disabled access.

There is an ongoing programme to renew St George’s Chapel, its’ Cloisters and medieval lodgings.

We need continued support for many years to come.

The current Friends’ Appeal, extended to 2020 due to the pandemic, is to help with the conservation and restoration of the Beaufort Chantry Chapel Glass.  To find out more, please email the Friends Office: [email protected]
