Diamond broadcasts, Edward III’s Sword and St George’s Chapel

Over the forthcoming days and weeks a number of programmes on BBC Radio and Television will mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and include links to St George’s Chapel. On Monday 6 February an interview recorded in St George’s Chapel by BBC Radio Berkshire will be broadcast on the Anne Diamond show (10am – 1pm). The BBC 1 series ‘The Diamond Queen’ begins at 9pm on Monday 6 February. The three part series includes footage of Garter Day.

A series of programmes entitled ‘The Art of Monarchy’ begins on BBC Radio 4 at 10.30am on Saturday 11 February. To mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee 60 objects will be described by Will Gompertz (BBC Arts Editor), Royal Collection curators and others. The second part (on Saturday 18 February) includes a piece on King Edward III’s bearing sword which can be seen in the South Quire Aisle of St George’s Chapel. The services of Evensong (open to all) at 5.15pm on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 February will both mark Accession day. Holy Communion on Monday 6 February will be held by the King George VI Chapel in the North Quire Aisle.
